I’ve lost count of the number of instruments I’ve played on stage and the number of instruments I seem to have lying about the house.
Principally, I play the Oboe (Grade 8), playing regularly in small orchestra and a wind quintet, but I also have a Cor Anglais, Saxophone, and Flute – all of which have featured in some show or other over the years.
I can also play the Guitar, Electric Bass and Piano.
Recently I also took up the Trombone and enjoy playing with the Academy band of the Shepherd Group Brass Band here in York.
I am an actor/musician; I sight read well and am highly experienced, having used my musical skills in productions such as: Return to the Forbidden Planet (UK No.1 tour), The Wind in the Willows (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Candide (Liverpool Everyman), Tom Jones/Moll Flanders (York Theatre Royal) and also at a variety of venues and on tour: Bittersweet, Sinbad, Sleeping Beauty, The Great Gatsby, A Christmas Carol, Grandpa’s Railway, Mac the Sheep Stealer and Two Gentlemen of Verona.
